The goals of the 'Day of Service' are to encourage industry professionals nationwide to show environmental stewardship, help revitalize public spaces, be recognized as community leaders and provide an opportunity for teamwork and fun.

Gardens For Kids, our program which donates landscaping services to public elementary schools to develop gardens and nature spaces, has been profiled twice by local news sources recently.

ProGrass is currently working with Alberta Rider Elementary in Tigard, Oregon to restore the native landscape around a Historical Register pioneer cabin. Read more from The Tigard Times.

ProGrass will be honored by the Portland Business Journal on Oct. 1st for our Gardens For Kids community partnership during the 2009 Corporate Philanthropy awards luncheon. Through Gardens For Kids, ProGrass works with public elementary schools to create gardens and nature spaces for our community's children. Schools can apply to receive up to $10,000 in labor, design and educational assistance.

With the new school year fast approaching, ProGrass employees have volunteered to collect school supplies for two children in the Friends of the Children program. ProGrass employees have 'adopted' a 4th grader and an 8th grader in the program. 'Employees are happy to have a chance to help send these boys back to school with the proper supplies', according to Human Resources director, Kaitlin Kenagy.

Portland's biggest party for pets and people is set for Sat., May 9th! ProGrass is sponsoring the Performance Stage at the 22nd Annual Oregon Humane Society Doggy Dash! Help us help the Oregon Humane Society raise $245,000 for animals and have a great time doing it. The Doggy Dash fund raiser for the Oregon Humane Society takes place Sat., May 9th in Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park, and ProGrass employees will be there! ProGrass has joined the national Day of Service, a nationwide movement from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). ProGrass employees will work with elementary students at Creative Science School in Portland, Oregon as part of the ongoing Gardens For Kids. PLANET is promoting a national day of service in conjunction with Earth Day to further environmental stewardship in our communities.

Wolf to Woof-The Story of Dogs opens September 28th at the World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum in Portland. ProGrass is proud to help sponsor this premier event which explores the special relationship between dogs and humans.

Entertaining and educational, this event also features a host of pet-related events including the weekend series, Tails to Tales. ProGrass’ own Steve Varga will present the popular seminar ‘Creating & Caring For Pet-Friendly Landscapes’ on Sat., Dec. 13th.

Building on the success of their ‘Gardens For Kids’ pilot project at Concord Elementary in Milwaukie, ProGrass Landscape Care & Design is announcing the next two schools for the program. The nex two schools for 2008 are Creative Science School in Portland and Alberta Rider Elementary in Tigard.

The goals of ProGrass’ inovative ‘Gardens For Kids’ program aims to help public elementary schools create gardens and give students hands-on opportunities for nature learning.

ProGrass has been chosen to create a display garden at the 2009 Yard, Garden & Patio Show. Located at the Oregon Convention Center, the Yard, Garden & Patio Show is produced by the Oregon Association of Nurseries and is the Northwest's largest outdoor living event. Scheduled for Feb. 27-March 1, 2009, the YGP's theme will be 'Our Environment. Your Backyard'.
