ProGrass Participates In National 'Day of Service'
Apr 24 2010
As a member of PLANET (Professional Landcare Network), ProGrass employees look forward to the 'Day of Service' each April. The goals of the 'Day of Service' are to encourage industry professionals nationwide to show environmental stewardship, help revitalize public spaces, be recognized as community leaders and provide an opportunity for teamwork and fun.
On Sat., April 24th, ProGrass was able to reach all those goals. Several employees volunteered their time to help Concord Elementary in Milwaukie, Oregon with the school's first native plant sale.
This community event helped educate kids and adults about gardening, and the importance of incorporating native plants in landscapes. ProGrass employees had a great time answering questions about plants, landscaping and container gardening, plus helping kids plant flower seeds to take home.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward the school's community garden program. In addtion to using the garden as an outdoor classroom, the Concord garden grows produce for a local food pantry.
