Atmospheric breaker (aka anti-siphon)

Do you have one of these? If so… you probably shouldn’t!
That device you see sticking up from the ground is an atmospheric breaker (also known as an anti-siphon device). It was designed to keep your drinking water safe from cross-contamination with your sprinkler system when the water isn’t running.
Here’s the catch:
These setups are old-fashioned and may not be up to current code.
Age and exposure often mean they no longer work properly.
They’re very prone to freezing and shattering in cold weather.
Their height makes them easy to break off by accident.
The better solution:
Replace it with a modern, up-to-code backflow valve installed in a service box below soil level. Not only does this protect your drinking water, but it also keeps your sprinkler system safe, secure, and weather-resistant.
If you think you may have one of these outdated devices, give us a call. Our team can inspect your system and upgrade it for safety and peace of mind.
